The Best Handmade Japanese Ramen in LA✨ Michelin Recommended‼️
✨Finally, I got to eat at this Japanese ramen house that has received Michelin recommendations for 3 consecutive years in New York. It could well be said that it's the best in LA!
The noodles are handmade. The broth is very rich and has a moderate salty flavor. Although it retains the oily characteristic of Japanese ramen, it's so delicious that I couldn't resist. Surprisingly, despite being prone to water retention, I didn't swell up the next day. Maybe it's because they don't overuse technology and artificial seasonings!
I ordered 2 kinds of ramen and 1 dipping noodle; Tokyo Ramen, Spicy Tan Tan Ramen, and Tokyo Dipping Ramen.
✨ Tokyo dipping ramen is the most concentrated, oiliest, and saltiest, but it's truly irresistible, bite after bite. Honestly, after finishing, I had so much soup left that I felt it would have been perfect to mix with a bowl of rice. This is definitely for those who prefer strong flavors!
✨ Tokyo ramen, albeit the broth is very rich, it's probably not too greasy because it's not a dipping noodle, and the saltiness is just right. Having tasted almost all the ramen in greater LA including OC, I can conclude that this ramen is truly exceptional!
Tan Tan ramen is slightly sweet. Those who have had Japanese food know that Japanese spicy dishes are sweet, similar to Japanese Mapo Tofu. Since it's soup-based, it's not salty either. I think if Tan Tan was a dipping noodle, it would be a little saltier given the style of this restaurant!
All noodles are firm and chewy. If you prefer softer noodles like those from Firehead Mountain, Daheijia, then do not try these!
✅ Cheese curry chicken wing is also delicious, it is juicy and the curry flavor is very strong. They likely use a mix of red and yellow curry powder, it's definitely a Japanese style curry! Their desserts are divine - the Mango Slush and Tokyo Banana Pudding are just perfect after having ramen. The Mango Slush combined with the restaurant's homemade cream makes for a fabulous combo!
✅ If, like me, you are particularly fond of creamy stuff, then you must try the Tokyo Banana Pudding. The sweetness is distinctly Japanese - not moderately sweet. So, if you don't like sweet things, you're advised to skip this!
However, if you adore desserts, you should definitely order it! It has a mascarpone-like cream, similar to tiramisu, mixed with tiny bananas and some whipped cream cheese, which delivers an exquisite mouthfeel. I scraped the bowl clean!
