Child Abuse?! Video of 8-Month-Old Tossed By Swim Instructor Into Pool Goes Viral

A mom attending Infant Survival Swimming lesson has been under fire after posting this video showing swim instructor tossed the baby into the pool.

According to the swim instructor, the goal of the technique is to teach infants to swim and to be so comfortable in the water that they know how to safely react if they happen to fall in. Some experts indicated this technique can saved lifes for those live near water or have a pool in the backyard. Other experts might not agreed to have infants learn this swimming survival lesson under 1 year of age.

I was a swim instructor for 5 years and this has always been part of the curriculum for baby classes, but no one tossed babies like this.

To prevent dehydration, or heatrelated illness, keeping the watertemperature below 100 degrees Fahrenheit is safer for small children

Courage. Families sharing their stories is integral to raising awareness about ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) and drowning prevention. Sharing such a personal and vulnerable story isn’t always easy, especially when we know there could have been a very different ending.

It’s one thing to share statistics, but Milo’s mom has shared her own family’s story in an effort to educate others and we’re so grateful to be able to share her words with you...Read More

Infant Swimming Resource - BOAT & LAKE SAFETY

Lakes and rivers can be especially dangerous because of their dark and sometimes fast-moving water, therefore effective supervision of your child anytime he is around the dock, river or lake is especially critical

Do not allow small children to ride in the front of the boat while the boat is moving, uncontrollable wake can propel a child from the boat

Infant Swimming Resource - SAFETY REFRESHER LESSONS

Because children are always growing and learning new skills, your child’s abilities in the water will change from year to year and sometimes from month to month.

Remember that swimming is a sensori-motor skill. Similar to riding a bike or roller-skating, your child will not ‘forget’ what he or she learned, but may outgrow the body that learned these skills due to height and weight changes.
